Why Girl Scouts @ Home?
Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts in her living room (ok, they called it a "parlor" back then) so you could say Girl Scouts has been bringing girls "at home" activities since 1912!
Juliette envisioned an organization that would prepare girls to meet their world with courage, confidence, and character. She gathered 18 girls in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, to share what she had learned abroad about a new outdoor and educational program for youth, and with this, the Girl Scout Movement was born. Along with Juliette, these first Girl Scouts blazed trails and redefined what was possible for themselves and for girls everywhere.
We know today's world is very different from that of Savannah in 1912, but Juliette's vision is needed now more than ever. With today's technology it's easier and faster for girls to learn about the world beyond their front door without ever leaving home. By completing Girl Scouts @ Home Badge activities girls will learn new skills and accomplish great things all from their own "parlor", kitchen table or backyard. We think Juliette would be proud.
